SIMPLE HOBBIES - GREAT JOYS

 TODAY'S THEME IS 'HOBBIES'

I HAVE MANY HOBBIES AND SEEK JOY IN ALL OF THEM. I CONSIDER MYSELF JACK OF ALL TRADES AND AM FAIRLY GOOD IN MANY.

HERE I SHARE THE SIMPLEST THINGS I DO WHICH  GIVE ME TONS OF PLEASURE. THEY FALL UNDER MY HOBBY OF 'COOKING'. THEY  CERTAINLY CAN BE TERMED AS MICRO SEGMENTS OF THE LARGER FIELD OF CULINARY ART.
I PREPARED IT IN THE MORNING FOR THIS SHOT!

I ALWAYS COOK SOMETHING FOR BREAKFAST. BUT HERE I'LL ONLY REFER TO WHEAT PORRIDGE WHICH I COOK AT  LEAST THRICE A WEEK FOR BOTH OF US. I MIX FLAX SEED POWDER, BROWN SUGAR TO SWEETEN IT AND MILK TO MAKE IT WHOLESOME AND HEALTHY.

THIS IS HOW IT LOOKED IN THE MORNING WHEN I REMOVED IT FROM THE MICRO.
 THE SECOND ITEM WHICH I CAN'T DO WITHOUT IS HOME MADE CURD. FOR THAT I PREFER TO BUY FRESH MILK FROM DAIRY MAN. AFTER BOILING IT AND COOLING IT TO THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE,I ADD  THE SETTER CURD AND STIR IT WELL. I POUR THE MILK PREFERABLY IN A CHINA CONTAINER AND PLACE IT IN THE MICROWAVE FOR STABLE WARMTH THROUGH THE NIGHT. AND IT COMES OUT PERFECT IN THE MORNING.

I ENJOY DOING MANY SMALL THINGS AND LOVE TO EXPERIMENT WITH WHATEVER I'M DOING.

  1. This looks like the Oats porridge that i make, Uppalji.
    never tried wheat-porridge. Do you use "Atta" or only Flax Seed powder?
    It is healthy :)

    1. Hi Anita,
      Oats porridge takes only three minutes to cook after the boiling point.

      Here is the recipe for wheat porridge.Dalia as we call it here is available in grocery stores. Roast it to golden brown either in cooker or thick bottomed pan. Add four cups of water for one cup of Dalia,a pinch of salt and half a tea spoonful of cooking oil/ butter'/clarified butter. In a p.cooker it takes five minutes after the whistle and in the pan it takes longer. Be sure to lower the heat to simmer after it starts boiling. You can adjust its consistency by adding less or more milk.To make it a wholesome breakfast add almond silvers,raisins,flax seed powder and banana. To sweeten you can use jaggery,brown sugar or white sugar according to taste. It has enough bran and is satiating.

  3. We also make curd everyday at home… I ever had wheat porridge, but I prefer for Oats
