THURSDAY CHALLENGE

This week's challenge is:

"TREES" (All kinds,...)

                                                       PINES GALORE

Abundance of pines on the slopes of Shivalik hills in Himachal Pradesh. The picture from my archives was taken in the evening, on Kumarhatti-Nahan road during the spring of 2014. Lush green grass tells a lot about the weather at that time!

Friends, welcome here and thanks for the support!

    1. Hi Indu, the road which connects Kumarhatti and Nahan has been laid just a year back with perhaps World Bank's funding. This area is progressing at a rapid pace in all spheres of life now.

    1. Yamini, these are just patches of grass where village women bring their cows for pasturing. Down on the lower slopes and at the base of this very narrow valley people grow cash vegetables like tomatoes, capsicum, cucumber and yellow pumpkin( we call it 'petha kaddu' here.I've seen some beds of maize here and there at the foot of hills.
In some parts of Himachal there are apple orchards and Kinnaur apples are regraded as the best variety.
