DAY 2 OF THE THREE DAY QUOTE CHALLENGE

Second day quote of the three day quote challenge:

The quote which, I'm sharing with you today, I've picked up from  a health book titled " KAISER PERAMENTE, HEALTHWISE,HANDBOOK." The said book is gifted by a health insurance company to its clients in the US. It is like having a family doctor at home. Our son gave it to us, when we visited him a few years back.

                                            " ONE WHO LAUGHS, LASTS."

                                                            Mary Pettisone Poole

ONE OF the book's CHAPTERS captioned ".....MENTAL WELLNESS" begins with the above five words.

So simple yet a treasure trove of wisdom.

Let's look around. It seems we've forgotten how to laugh and open up. Most of us, remain constricted with pursed lips and stiff body language.

Somehow this sickening notion has taken deep roots in our psyche that laughing and sharing our  problems with  family members or friends will lower our dignity in the eyes of others . The starchy veneer of false stoicism, which we don, most of the time doesn't represent our real selves. In fact, we all are human and vulnerable but shy away from laughing because of our surliness and cynicism, developed over the years. Our hearts and minds  have become rusted padlocks. Our pretense of bravery goes bust as we start  suffering from many ailments and complexes because of long drawn pent up emotions. We carry the burden but refuse to lighten it up by some hilarious moments with others.

Crackling good humored laughter is a  medicine in itself. It opens up the lungs, intestines. In fact, the whole system gets exercised. The intake of oxygen during laughing props up the spirits, improves appetite and promotes overall well being. No wonder people have added laughing with abandon in their exercise regime.  It is proven that laughter instils positivity and  mental wellness. Thus if we wish to enjoy good health  and full life in all phases of our short journey, we should adopt laughter as an essential part of our routine.
Since he 'who laughs,lasts.'

Friends,welcome here as always!
