LIFE IS A WORK OF ART

Indian Bloggers

L is for Life

Life is a work of art.

Life is no ordinary template,

It is a network of mystery, a  unique designer’s create.

Who is this designer anyways?

The azure canopied infinity that holds sway.

Sages and saints strove to do some explaining

Of life and its meaning on every plane.

Thwarted they were by their own contradictions,

As life wriggled out of their shaky deductions.

What! Is life a fantasy of exalted permutations?

Of patterns extraordinaire, of superb creations.

Or is it a setting for sobs, sniffles and occasional smiles

Of endless struggles, some love bytes and sly guiles.

Or is it a frothy cuppa of excellence and achievements.
Of giving your own meaning amidst joys and bereavements.

Or is it part destiny and part the art of becoming

Living fully each day with fine-tuning.

Whatever it is, it is truly a work of art

Pulsating and vibrant from end to start.

THIS WEEK'S SKYWATCH

Indian Bloggers

“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
Kahlil Gibran

Last week  it was stifling hot and humid at Patiala. Only yesterday morning there were welcome signs of cool breeze entering our arena. Actually it rained in the Shivalik hills and cool wind blew from there.  The change in the weather egged me on to venture out for a morning walk, which was suspended because of sweaty weather.

Thus this click happened.

This image shows a somewhat  grey cloudy sky at 7o' clock in the morning as the sun is struggling to once again hold sway.

KNICK KNACK

Indian Bloggers

K is for KNICK- KNACK:

Please enlarge it for a larger view!

The picture above represents a rectangular piece of cloth, which can be characterized as no more than a knick-knack. Yet it is not simply that.  In fact, it tells a little bit about a young girl. It was a part of her memorabilia. That young girl has now stepped into her seventies and this insignificant looking cloth symbolizes a slice of her history.

I think I’s in the final year of  primary school. In those days, there used to be a sewing period for girls and drawing for boys. I still remember that we girls were asked to knit a baby dress. It was a difficult task and dear mother,  busy though she was in looking after my younger siblings, helped in this venture. In fact, she did the difficult parts. Another requirement was to make a small centerpiece to be  done with a special stitch on the edges and a design in the middle, after pulling out threads,  .

The other day when I’s rearranging the stack of linen in the cupboard, I saw this tucked inside the pile virtually invisible. I found it of course and examined it nostalgically. For a moment, I was transformed into that little girl slogging to pull tiny strands of thread. I marveled how meticulously the threads must have been pulled to make the design in the middle. The cloth is so thin and pulling tiny strands must have been a mammoth task. However, I could do it. The neat stitch work makes me feel as if it is a work of art accomplished by me at a time that does not remotely resemble the modern age.

So much has happened in my life since, yet I regard it as a precious souvenir from a bygone era, when girls were squarely ingenuous, very stupid and extremely bashful and innocent.

I’m certainly gifting it to my granddaughter whenever I meet her in  the coming days.

SKYWATCH AT THREE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS.

Indian Bloggers

SKY'S INFINITE VARIETY!!!

This sky watch is at Kumarhatti above Shivalik hills during monsoons. Picture taken at an evening outing.

This depicts the skyline above urban dwellings, in my home town at Patiala. Shot from the rooftop of our house.

This picture reminds me of our visit to the US during autumn of 2013.  Pl. note the blazing trees in a  parking lot at Cincinnati.
