MINI SNAPSHOTS- GOOD FENCES AND SKYWATCH

This post is part of: Good Fences, Sky Watch

This picture is taken at a cottage in Dagshai, which is owned by one of our friends. Here is my friend and her niece posing for me.

A small space is ensconced as a balcony with a swing and a small  improvised fountain, where water is circulated all the time. The terrace overlooks splendid scenic mountainside.

The view of the cemetery. Google image.
Dagshai has military cantonment originally established by the British rulers, because of its cool climes and picturesque beauty. It is situated at an altitude of 6000 feet. A Roman Catholic Church was built by the British here, which is still there. There is an old cemetery overlooking the lovely valley. It is said that many British soldiers are buried here. It is a tourist place because of its history and natural beauty, which has been saved from the real estate Sharks by enacting strategic regulations.
It is about 5 km uphill from Kumarhatti. It is famous for its level walks and magnificent valley views.

It has a considerable population of monkeys though.

SKY WATCH AND GOOD FENCES

Part of my hill series.

Late afternoon shot of the skyline from the road where I take a walk.

Here in the country side, wealthy people belonging to the plains,  build their  summer houses almost on top of the hills. During my walks I've noticed this trend getting popular. This one actually is on the road side itself. But on the backside it is surrounded by fresh looking pines and other vegetation.

SKY WATCH FRIDAY

Part of my hill series:

Good Fences Sky Watch Friday

It is a hazy morning and sun light is subdued. Cool breeze is blowing  and that compensates amply  for the unfriendly atmosphere, though. At about 11am I ventured out to forage for the theme based images which i needed to post on two of my favorite memes. I'd decided that I'll only use new ones. Luckily I succeeded. Below is the proof of my efforts. Hope you like them.

There is a light veil of haze and the sky looks almost white. However, I went ahead for this click of the skyline beyond the top of the mountain. The click is simple but freshly procured.

Location: From inside our community, at Kumarhatti, Solan.

TREES ARE OUR MENTORS

“We have nothing to fear and a great deal to learn from trees, that vigorous and pacific tribe which without stint produces strengthening essences for us, soothing balms, and in whose gracious company we spend so many cool, silent, and intimate hours.”

'T' is for Trees

Kumarhatti nestles amidst  pine forests. Pines stand tall and  patiently wait for rains to come to rejuvenate their vitality and freshness after the onslaught of winter. I hope within a short period of time the dullness will be forgotten and  lanky pines will overwhelm us with their green lustrous growth.

When the pines rustle  and sway during strong winds, they sing a melody, which only the initiated can appreciate. Their message of courage and steadfastness under all circumstances is universal. They're never angry and are least demanding.Their calender never wavers and keeps its dates joyfully sans complaining.
Trees not only bless us but nurture us and soften  the rough edges of our short journey. They don't discriminate. They're sentinels of hope and positivity. We're pilgrims and they are eternal.

OUR WORLD TUESDAY

A COW ON MOUNTAIN SLOPES

A LONE BLACK HILL COW SURVEYING THE SURROUNDINGS AFTER HAVING HER FILL OF THE LUSH
GREEN GRASS. THE PICTURE SHOWS THE FOREST COVER IN THE NARROW VALLEY OF KUMARHATTI, HIMACHAL PRADESH, INDIA. COWS HERE ARE SHORT AND BONY. THEY NEGOTIATE DIFFICULT HILL TERRAIN TO GRAZE. BY THE WAY, SHE CLIMBED UP ABOUT 30 FEET FROM THE ROAD TO BE HERE. IT WAS BY CHANCE THAT I VENTURED OUT INTO THE BALCONY OF MY FLAT AND SPIED HER LOOKING LONELY.

FRIENDS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS FACE OF OUR WORLD?
