THURSDAY CHALLENGE

The theme for this week is:

PLACE (House, Cabin, Apartment, Tent, Workshop, Office,...)

 Part of my hill series:

Linked to: Thursday Challenge , Outdoor Wednesday

This small really modest roadside eatery is yet to be inaugurated .

A few days back while strolling on this road I saw a wooden skeleton  with a roof of corrugated iron sheet and some area leveled around it. We were intrigued as to its identity. A couple of days on, we witnessed a tent like structure covering the skeletal of sundry poles and a single door entry. There were some local lads installing these colorful flags. On further inquiry we found  that an enterprising local boy is going to start an eating place here.

Just waiting curiously when it would start its operations. And how it'd be managed.

I's attracted by this pine's unusual shape while on a walk yesterday.

THURSDAY CHALLENGE

This  week's challenge is:

"MOOD" (Things Happy, Sad, Exciting, Boring,...)

HAPPY MOOD OF A PLATEAU:

A couple of days back we (hubby and I) felt like exploring an area which is at a distance of about 4 km. from our community. After parking the car, we strolled on the road, as the cool breeze ruffled my hair, played with the contours of my body and soothed my spirits. Suddenly we saw an opening, which probably was a pathway leading to a village. The scene looked so gorgeous that we walked further on and came upon this cheerful plateau. It was adorned with a fresh coat of lustrous green grass with the blessings of monsoon rains. The place looked calm and poised with lanky pines showing absolute contentment. It was breathtaking. The outing proved to be exciting and blissful. That night, I slept soundly!

THURSDAY CHALLENGE: VINTAGE ROMANCE

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE IS:

"OLD" (Vintage, Antique, Rusty, Secondhand, Long ago, Aging, Senior,...)

MANY MOONS ago, the print below,  lying  in a shop at Patiala, fascinated me. I'm a Jane Austen's fan and the image somehow, evoked that golden period of classic romance in my mind. After buying it, I got it framed and it is hanging here in our living room ever since. For today's theme, after a lot of mind mapping, my choice finally rested on this.

The painting  seems to suggest the romantic setting of a bygone era, whence a tall, handsome, debonair young man  on horseback is courting a lovely, lissome maiden. They meet ostensibly by chance in the pure and subdued wooded ambiance, on a morning outing.
Surely a whiff and a vision of Jane Austen’s dreamy interludes. How pretty and delicately charming the ladies look in their  stunning, lacy long dresses and  curls partly covered by their headgear. The two curious dogs complete the amorous setting.
I am reminded of Frank Sinatra’s passionate song about lovers 'meeting by chance but not really by chance,' something like that. If any of my friends help me with the actual lyrics of that song. Thanks!

THURSDAY CHALLENGE

This week's Thursday Challenge is:

"SPRING" (Fresh Leaves, Baby Animals, Warm Weather,...)

FLORA IN THE HILLS

The rose bush above is aglow with  warm sunshine and newly minted leaves.

An array of trees-silver oak with yellow thread like clusters, gulmohar with purple blooms and on the right pines- are regaining their freshness and glory after  going through severe winter conditions.( A dried pine tree happens to be an eyesore here.)

There are ample signs of life and freshness in the vegetation in and around  the place where we're putting up these days. In our community there is a large enough lawn which is bordered with all types of flowers and  perennials, which soothe and calm the nerves and bucks up the spirits.

Location: Kumarhatti, Distt: Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

THURSDAY CHALLENGE

  This week's challenge is :

"CLOSEUP" (Taken Close up, Macro, Small Things,...)

It is said, small is the new big,
As satire is the perfect dig.

Today is a rainy day. It is cloudy and dark. I'd to make do with something from inside. I decided to offer the pictures of this pair of small candle holders.  The one on the right has some varied colored beads inside the hollow. I didn't remove them before clicking. The lacy round thing underneath was crocheted by me a few years back.

THURSDAY CHALLENGE

 This week's challenge is:

"STILL LIFE" (Food, Flowers, Rocks, Shells, Vases, Books, Jewelry,...)

Linked To: Thursday challenge

Set of twenty four volumes of Encyclopaedia Britannica is our prized possession. Bought in  Canada in 1963 when my hubby was  doing his Doctorate in the University of Alberta, he shipped it to India after completing his studies.  He came back as he wanted to serve his country. Later after our marriage the one thing, which impressed me most was this set of scholarly elegance. It was  early 70s and both of us would sit and read enteries of common interest. We've moved home four times so far and these volumes had kept us company. These have become an integral part of our lives. We treat them as  heirlooms.

In this age of instant information, their utility might have diminished but for comprehensive information about a topic at one place, nothing can beat them.
This apart they're a solid link with the past, when these were of immense value to the researchers in any field.

"TREES" (All kinds,...)

                                                       PINES GALORE

Abundance of pines on the slopes of Shivalik hills in Himachal Pradesh. The picture from my archives was taken in the evening, on Kumarhatti-Nahan road during the spring of 2014. Lush green grass tells a lot about the weather at that time!

THURSDAY CHALLENGE

THIS WEEK'S THEME IS:

"MY FAVOURITE PHOTO"

SUN RISE BEHIND THE SHIVALIK HILLS.              THIS ONE I PRIZE!

During the summer I stayed in the midst of Shiwalik hills for a few months. That gave me an opportunity to capture  nature in the peak of its beauty, during spring. Most of the pictures I've shared on my blog.

The picture above is one of my favorite shots. I clicked it at KUMARHATTI (SOLAN) at about 8'clock in the morning from my balcony.

PURE BLUE UMBRELLA SKY

THIS BLUE IS UNIQUE

THURSDAY CHALLENGE

'FOR FUN AND LEARNING'

THIS WEEK'S THEME IS:

BLUE (Anything with the colour blue in it,...)

Captured the sky  in the late afternoon at Kumarhatti

I thought what better way to accept the challenge than to present a shot of the sky in its calmest blue. HERE in the hills, the rainy season is over and such lovely and clear sky scenes, I hope will stay.
