FRIENDLY-FILL-INS: WEEK-13

This is an exciting meme, where I'm supposed to complete  four given statements. The whole exercise inspires one to think and come up with  new ideas to fill up the blanks. Below are four statements, which I've completed. The given words are in bold letters and are underlined ....

 1. I am most proud of the fact that I’s brought up in an atmosphere where my parents saw to it that I strictly follow a value system, (which they practiced themselves) to steer my life in the right direction. Honestly, the significant things, which they taught me, helped me to overcome calmly many testing situations during different stages of my life.

2. I am embarrassed to admit that though I’m largely a disciplined person yet sometimes I miss abiding by my own resolutions about tackling certain issues in life. However, I feel it is okay, as we’re humans after all.

3. My super power might be (for me it’s not might be) that I had  time management skills- be it in professional or personal life. My visualization ability (God given) enabled me to organize events during my social and professional  life without any goof ups. Being a keen observant of people and places, I had remained a confident and independent person, who never felt the need to be part of herd mentality.

4. I really wish I could possess strong will power to prioritize things better, which matter most to me. However, to be honest, at this stage of life, when I’m so to say a free bird, I just flow with life.

FRIENDLY-FILL-INS: WEEK 12

This is an exciting meme, where I'm supposed to complete  four given statements. The whole exercise inspires one to think and come up with  new ideas to fill up the blanks. Below are four statements, which I've completed. The given words are in bold letters and are underlined ....

Here is my take:

1. One quirk I have is that whenever I go out on foot, I carry a small bamboo stick with me. If it is funny, then so be it. Since a stray bitch bit dear hubby badly without any warning and that necessitated his getting six injections in the span of a month, I get scared even when I see a stray dog at a distance. This is a menace in India. The animal rights organizations have compounded the issue by not favoring their culling.

2. My favorite comic strip is DENNIS THE MENACE. I simply adore Dennis' lovable, innocent pranks. So many times he even embarrasses his parents by his off the cuff remarks. It is so endearing the way he suddenly comes out with a long forgotten harmless comment his parents had made about the person /persons visiting them. How he irritates his neighbor Mr. Wilson by barging into their house uninvited, is  amusing enough. However, it is gratifying to see the welcome he and his friend Joey receive from good old Mrs. Wilson, who always welcomes them with cookies and milk.

3. I am really happy the day I experience a feeling of overall wellness. That is the day I accomplish the most and make positive affirmations for the future.

4. If I could go anywhere on a road trip, I’d go to Scotland. Long time back when I’s a University student, I had read Sir Walter Scott’s historical fiction. The magical images of valor, majestic castles, the mountains, farmlands and coastlines he created had strayed into some corner of the subconscious, which nudged me to refer to them in the Fill- Ins. The romance he created with his writing style is well worth experiencing. The road trip might create some déjà vu moments.

FRIENDLY-FILL-INS: WEEK 11

This is an exciting meme, where I'm supposed to complete  four given statements. The whole exercise inspires one to think and come up with  new ideas to fill up the blanks. Below are four statements, which I've completed. The given words are in bold letters and are underlined ....

1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to help me learn the intricacies of cyber world associated with what I do. So far, I have been a self-learner with occasional support from dear hubby here and there. He too has learnt through the difficult way of hit and trial. He spends a lot of time at the computer. Being a scientist, he learns it faster and does his banking online. As both of us have entirely different hobbies, he can’t help much. Honestly, I dare not experiment on my blog fearing it might not crash with stupid clicking. However, I feel it is okay, for my blogging journey remains a continuous challenge and I derive pleasure from this constant itch to learn.

2. Zucchini in our part of the country is a seasonal green vegetable and is widely grown here. These days it is abundantly available in all groceries stores and weekly mandis. We cook it as a vegetable dish Indian style with seasoning  of finely chopped onions, garlic pods and tomatoes. My mother used to cook it frequently. It is easy on the digestive system, soothes intestines, helps in warding off constipation and is loaded with vitamins. However, ours is a slightly different variety, as it requires slight peeling of the skin before cooking. The variety, which I had cooked in the U.S., is also available here in plenty.

3. One summertime memory I recall is when I’s about 5 years old and had recently joined school. One day instead of coming home from school, I went to a friend’s house. When I didn’t reach on time, hell let loose at our house. My parents were distraught. Searches were made. A drummer was hired to go from street to street  announcing the details of the lost girl. Ironically,  the drummer also came to the street where I’s crazily busy in some sort of game. Even then both of us peeped through the window. In the evening when we had our fill of playing, I walked back home unconcerned. Through the open door, I could see a group of women sitting around my mom who was crying. As a child, I don’t know how the particular  situation dawned on me, as i ran towards mom and holding her tightly started howling. The women dispersed immediately. No questions were asked. I could only gauge immense relief in the household. I’s too young to be reprimanded.

4.This summer, we had been regularly going on long walks on winding hill roads. It is a part of our work out. Our schedule is some stretching exercises in the mornings and walk in the evenings. Of course, off and on there are some misses also. Yet it affords me an opportunity to capture the lovely scenes around.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS- WEEK 10

This is an exciting meme, where I'm supposed to complete  four given statements. The whole exercise inspires one to think and come up with  new ideas to fill up the blanks. Below are four statements, which I've completed. The given words are in bold letters.....

Flowers have a way of spreading positivity!
Friendly fill-in for my post! Orange rose in our lawn.

1. I prefer reading one of my favorite books to needless TV watching in free time. Reading a good book gives me immense pleasure.

2. Accepting the loss of dear mom and dad was much harder than I expected. You realize the intensity of pain only after the loss.

3. One way that I can relax is either listening to music or strolling in our driveway. This gives me an opportunity to contemplate on fresh ideas.

4. Hypocrisy and lies, which are increasingly practiced in social circles these days, always make me feel uncomfortable. It may sound idealistic. However, I’m like that.

HERE IS MY TAKE..

I've recently joined this exciting meme, where I'm supposed to complete  four given statements. The whole exercise inspires one to think and come up with  new ideas to fill up the blanks. Below are four statements, which I've completed. The given words are in bold letters.....

 1. I used to love to eat sweets a lot but now they repulse me as I’ve learnt and realized that sweet things contribute to one getting diabetes and high  bad cholesterol levels. Furthermore, sugar intake also causes acidity and other digestive issues. Obesity is the proven aftermath of taking sugary delights.

2. I would never eat dishes made of bitter gourd when young. My mother would persuade me to try it by listing numerous health benefits. Who’d listen to health benefits at that age, but now I love it knowing that bitter gourd is part of Ayurveda, a branch of holistic system of medicine, which is widely practiced in India.

3. I always cry watching movies with deep emotional content as I start relating to the situations depicted. It is an automatic way of achieving emotional catharsis, which has a purifying effect on body and mind.

4. On encountering  some people posing as if they are intelligent, well read and possess sharp  intellect, when  in reality your observation and their body language show them to be nearly duds, always makes me laugh in my sleeves.
