LIGHT? MUSINGS!

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

L is for light/lamp:

The word light entwines a great concept of the multiple facets of this entity. Look at the moon. It gives light to the world at night. The moon-lit nights are the loveliest and  have myriad romantic connotations. The poets have explored the depths of their imagination to describe the beauty and magnificence of moon's mystery. It is photographers delight to click the many phases of its appearance. To take a walk in the moon-lit night is an experience indescribable! Watching 'THE TAJ' at AGRA in moon light feels eerie and out of this world. The moon figures  as CHANDA MAMA( uncle moon) in children's stories and lullabies. This nature's lamp is both awe inspiring and  elevating.
Scientifically, it is said that moon  has a stabilizing effect on earth's movement around its axis.

The word thunder and lightning epitomize Curiosity. The flashes of bright light in the sky to the lay man is one of the awesome mysteries of nature   and need no explanation. This zig zag strip of lightning sans thunder, I captured a few days back from the courtyard of our house.

Here are the white beauties which light up our  eyes, our mind and  our soul. They are stress busters.Their sight inspires us in our gloom and encourages us to move ahead. They sustain and strengthen us. They provide a visual feast.
Flowers are unique. They smile, sometimes they wink at us to relieve  our tensions. They are great givers of happiness. That is why they prosper.

Can we lose sight of the electric light which has revolutionized our life in all spheres of our existence?

MONSOON SKIES

Nature amazes me all the time and fills my heart with joy!

I is for informal:

Nature is informal and yet committed to its jobs. It has its own perfect calendar. It manifests itself according to that, without being bribed or coaxed. How methodically the sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening. We hardly give it a thought. Everything happens spontaneously. Our lives pass through various worrisome situations. Nature teaches us to persevere and be patient.

Nature is unique. It is spontaneous. It soothes, gives us joy, hope, and courage to keep going. It does not believe in inane formalities, which sometimes are too much to bear. Nature believes in giving and only giving. It cares not for any reward. It cements our faith amidst deceit, lies, and selfishness proliferating around. It personifies all that is wonderful in life. If there are some negative episodes like natural calamities, they are minuscule compared to its infinite boons.

Here are some pictures taken recently. Representations of nature's inimitable presence!

Gazed heavenward to imprison the sheer awesome expanse of the skies!!

While coming back from the hills to still stuffy heat of the plains, clicked the amazing landscape from the moving car.

SUN SOAKED BLOOMS

Flowers seek no entitlements,
They bloom on their own,
Having charm and cheer  upfront,
Relieve our sufferings anon.

All these images are captured in and around the lawn of our complex located in the midst of Shivalik hills. We've recently moved here to beat the summer heat of  our permanent home in the plains.

'S' is for sun soaked blooms:

SLICE OF HISTORY- GURUDWARA FATEHGARH SAHIB, SIRHIND

This historic Gurudwara located at Fatehgarh Sahib, Sirhind in the Indian state of Punjab is steeped in tragic  history. It was built to commemorate the martyrdom of two younger Sahibzadas (sons)  Baba Fateh Singh 9 and Baba Zorawar Singh 7, of Guru Gobind Singh ji- the 10th and last Guru of Sikhs. The two tender hearts were bricked alive in 1704 by the  orders of then Mughal Governor of Sirhind, Wazir Khan for refusing to embrace Islam. The wall where the execution took place has been preserved inside the main Gurudwara and is known as Gurudwara Bhora Sahib.- Wikipedia.
........

Hubby and I had a deeply felt spiritual experience when we visited the place  last week . Sitting with  Sangat ( other visitors) in the Langar hall, to eat community lunch was memorable.

M is for Monument: Religious monument.

The covered entrance to the main Gurudwara.

Another view of the historic Gurudwara.

The  langar  building ( free kitchen) where devotees sit on mats spread on the floor to partake community  meals.

The arched entrance to the free kitchen named after tenth Guru's mother Mata Gujri.

The Fort like construct  was named as Thanda Burj ( cool Fort) where Mata Gujri along with her two grandsons was confined in extreme cold weather as a punishment. When Mata Gujri learnt about the sad news of the martyrdom of her younger grandsons, she collapsed. --Wikipedia.

Spring resides in an extraordinary kingdom. It is generous as it enriches the environment with generous beauty and magnificence. It is nature's bridal trousseau. It signals hope, joy and  positive affirmations.

I hit upon this spring bonanza simply by chance. Like sweet serendipity. Not from some extensive garden or some gorgeous park, but from the horse's mouth,  as they say. In fact, the captures are from a local nursery, where we went to buy sod for relaying our lawn. The colorful visual narrative there, was mesmerizing. I clicked and I clicked.
Sharing some selected ones from the collection.

MARCH IS DIFFERENT

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”
Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

March is half way through and I find its features worth observing. It has distinct and significant qualities. For instance, it has elegance built into it. For one it ushers the much awaited change in weather. Finally, winter’s grueling months are over. We keep aside layers of clothing and heavy woolens. We for once breathe freely the fragrant breeze of March. Here comes spring’s wagon laden with the most loved nature’s blessing. Days become windy and lots of fragrance inundates the environment. Trees and vegetation sprout new tender leaves. Flowers vie with each other to bloom beautifully and mesmerize the on looker.

You take a walk and in most backyards, you witness the riot of color catching your attention. Blades of grass, which were hidden under the soil battered by cold, sneak out in their fresh green avatar. Sometimes an unexpected shower nourishes the tender vegetation and brings joy and happiness to plants. It is cloudy for a couple of days. You look up to see white patches of clouds making gorgeous patterns in the sky.

The dryness of winter disappears. Our skin feels smooth and naturally rejuvenated. March remains more or less sunny and yet it retains the nip in the air. Light woolens give comfort in the mornings and evenings. You still snuggle in the quilt at night.

Birds chirp cheerfully and romp about on the branches of trees. Squirrels seem to feel heavenly, while running races hidden in the spread of trees. Neem tree outside our house attracts birds for their special soirees.

Because February passes too quickly, March seems to be a very long month. It lingers. Its personality stands out, though.  It is comfortably warm but blowy.  Pleasant cool breeze plays with your face and hair.  You move out and your hairs swing in all directions.

Winter and autumn overlap in Punjab. As late as first week of March, some deciduous trees were still shedding leaves. Ground underneath the trees has sheets of crunchy dry leaves. Thankfully, it is over now.

On the other side, generous amount of pollen moves about in the atmosphere. People suffer from sneezes and mild fevers. It gives rise to bouts of allergies. However, everybody welcomes March for its bracing outdoor activities. March is different

On a rainy day the afterglow  of sunset lingered even at the late hour.

OCTOBER FINESSE IS A BIT TARDY THIS TIME

Indian Bloggers

O is for October!

All these years in North India, we would eagerly wait for October to usher in some respite from the discomforting months of summer. However, not the October of 2016. It really disappointed us this year.  We were expecting some pleasant change in the weather. Some relief from the hot sweaty days. The relief if any is measly. Fans continue to hum all the time. Nostalgia has evaporated. We celebrated Dussehra in the sweltering heat and hope that Diwali will brighten our hearth and homes with cool invigorating breeze. Change is there for the last few days but it is minuscule.

Global warming which was dismissed as a myth has scientists and environmentalists busting it totally in strong terms. Global warming is real and poses a grave danger to the existence of  whole humankind and the entire living organisms. India has done its duty by signing the Paris climate treaty. It implies an active endorsement of the need to reduce carbon emissions. To safeguard the universe from extinction, the leaders of the whole world should come together to sincerely work for ways to offset the dangerous signals.

However, October here opens gateways to autumnal ambience and invites the foot looser to explore and enjoy!

I’s amidst Shivalik hills for a few days. There the weather was enviable, neither hot nor cold. I’m sharing the images, which, I took over there.

A grove of stately pines in BASAL, a village in Solan Distt. of Hlmachal Pradesh.

The combo of dark and light is possible only amidst mountains!
