NATURE'S INCOMPARABLE WONDERS

Indian Bloggers

“God will reward you,' he said. 'You must be an angel since you care for flowers.”
Victor Hugo

Flowers symbolize 'VERISIMILITUDE' of: innocence, cheer, joy, beauty, elegance, openness and genuineness....

V is for VERISIMILITUDE

These are hearty smiles!!!

This beauty (chrysanthemum)  stole my heart away. Was sighted at the entrance of a hotel in New Delhi.

Soft lemon colored marigold seems to be a picture of serenity.

Chrysanthemums are blooming in our backyards.

Potted marigold in full splendor.....

GURU NANAK DEV JI'S GURPURB TODAY

Indian Bloggers

CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES TO ALL ON THIS SACRED DAY!!!

"Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, was born in 1469 in Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present Shekhupura District of Pakistan, now Nankana Sahib. His birth is celebrated on Kartik Poornima, the full moon day in the month of Kartik."

Guru Nanak Dev ji flanked by his disciples Bhai Bala and Bhai Mardana.

Nanak was apostle of peace, love and compassion. From his early childhood he, through his various actions showed signs of being an exceptional child. His sister Nanaki who loved him dearly understood his extraordinary traits and was sort of his first disciple. He was a great social reformer and believed in the equality of all human beings.  In the course of his life Nanak traveled far and wide spreading his message of truthful living and human brotherhood.

His message is enshrined in the words "Ek Onkar" There is one God and we're all His children.

Bhai Gurdas who compiled Adi Granth (Holy Book) in 1604 as dictated by the fifth guru, Guru Arjan was "an influential Sikh figure, writer, historian and preacher."

This is how he described Nanak's  emergence in the times when hypocrisy, falsehood, superstitions, hatred and envy reigned supreme.

"Satgur Nanak pargatya mitti dundh jag chanan hoa

jion kar sooraj niklya tarre chappe andher paloya.............."

(When Nanak appeared, mist of ignorance disappeared and the world was illumined. It was as if the sun has risen and stars disappeared and the darkness was dispelled.)

FLOWERS INSPIRE

                                                     Raise your words,
                                                    not your voice.
                                                    It is rain that
                                                    grows flowers,
                                                    not thunder.

                                                            -RUMI

The six petaled white flowers (perennials) have  come up with smiling and pure looking personas in fair numbers in our yard. In fact these are the only ones, which survived our four months absence during summer.

And also, I's  feeling totally barren  creatively this past week. Thanks to their cheerful, innocent appearance that woke me up to, what I's missing.

I always feel and rightly so that nature and flowers particularly, have the power of chasing the blues, which pull us down quite often.

DIWALI MUSINGS AND HAPPY DIWALI

Wishing all my cyber friends sparkling DIWALI full of love, happiness and prosperity!!!

Diwali Musings

You are mother of all festivals,

Dispel darkness and illumine your carnivals.

Open hearts shame the mean spirited,

End divisiveness and lead the drifted.

Wake and shake the strife torn humanity,

Teach them lessons suffused with divinity.

Resurrect mirth, unaffected laughter, ease of mind,

Teach compassion, concern and being kind.

Gaiety, altruism and goodwill you endorse,

What better bywords than this discourse.

Let your feisty spirit design our attitude,

To forever celebrate life with gratitude.

MORNINGS ARE PIOUS

This one is from my archives. Pure stillness of the morning is palpable here.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep.

P is for, piety, purity :

I associate purity  with the mornings. The calm quietude unadulterated yet with deafening noise of waking humanity. I always feel early morning time  suffused with spiritual overtones. This is the time to converse with your inner self, to reflect and reach certain conclusions. Spoken words seem irrelevant. The potency of the silence outweighs the need for peripherals.  The early hour stretches itself, undisturbed as it is from consuming externals. The unencumbered mind breaks  the hitherto closed paths of the soul. Step out and breathe the pure scented air. Swathe yourself with the piety of the ambience. Be yourself. Give thanks for the precious joyful moments. Feel the aliveness of the hour, listening to the dawn chorus of the birds.

Let the mind grow wings of imagination. Break the shackles of inhibitions.  Give free rein to ideas.  Renew promises to yourself. Close your eyes. Meditate. Energize the spirit.  Think of venturing into the unexplored. Prioritize.
The foundation for the day is laid. A well meaning beginning has been made.

Purple beauties:

This red purple bloom enlivens our back yard gratuitously. Last year's seeds remain in the soil and  a plant is born, which grows and flowers in October.

This one is from the mountains. And is opening up.

OCTOBER FINESSE IS A BIT TARDY THIS TIME

Indian Bloggers

O is for October!

All these years in North India, we would eagerly wait for October to usher in some respite from the discomforting months of summer. However, not the October of 2016. It really disappointed us this year.  We were expecting some pleasant change in the weather. Some relief from the hot sweaty days. The relief if any is measly. Fans continue to hum all the time. Nostalgia has evaporated. We celebrated Dussehra in the sweltering heat and hope that Diwali will brighten our hearth and homes with cool invigorating breeze. Change is there for the last few days but it is minuscule.

Global warming which was dismissed as a myth has scientists and environmentalists busting it totally in strong terms. Global warming is real and poses a grave danger to the existence of  whole humankind and the entire living organisms. India has done its duty by signing the Paris climate treaty. It implies an active endorsement of the need to reduce carbon emissions. To safeguard the universe from extinction, the leaders of the whole world should come together to sincerely work for ways to offset the dangerous signals.

However, October here opens gateways to autumnal ambience and invites the foot looser to explore and enjoy!

I’s amidst Shivalik hills for a few days. There the weather was enviable, neither hot nor cold. I’m sharing the images, which, I took over there.

A grove of stately pines in BASAL, a village in Solan Distt. of Hlmachal Pradesh.

The combo of dark and light is possible only amidst mountains!

LIFE IS A WORK OF ART

Indian Bloggers

L is for Life

Life is a work of art.

Life is no ordinary template,

It is a network of mystery, a  unique designer’s create.

Who is this designer anyways?

The azure canopied infinity that holds sway.

Sages and saints strove to do some explaining

Of life and its meaning on every plane.

Thwarted they were by their own contradictions,

As life wriggled out of their shaky deductions.

What! Is life a fantasy of exalted permutations?

Of patterns extraordinaire, of superb creations.

Or is it a setting for sobs, sniffles and occasional smiles

Of endless struggles, some love bytes and sly guiles.

Or is it a frothy cuppa of excellence and achievements.
Of giving your own meaning amidst joys and bereavements.

Or is it part destiny and part the art of becoming

Living fully each day with fine-tuning.

Whatever it is, it is truly a work of art

Pulsating and vibrant from end to start.
